Yunnan Showcases Cultural Richness at Greater Bay Area Conference 2025
The Greater Bay Area Conference 2025, held on October 23 in Hong Kong, provided a platform for Yunnan to showcase its cultural and culinary specialties to an international audience. Co-organized by China Daily and the Hong Kong Coalition, the event focused on themes of financial connectivity, talent nurturing, and cultural bridges. Attendees were treated to a diverse display of Yunnan’s offerings, including locally produced coffee, black tea, and unique desserts.
At the conference, representatives from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism highlighted the province’s distinctive products. Chen Jibin, sales director for the South China region of Yunnan’s tea brand Chen Sheng Hong, expressed ambitions to expand the brand’s footprint in Hong Kong. He emphasized the potential market opportunity, noting Hong Kong’s rich tea-drinking history and increasing tourism from the city to Yunnan.
Yunnan’s Coffee and Cultural Heritage on Display
The event also featured Wang Ruogu, founder of the Yunnan-based flower-fermented coffee brand Terre • Petales. He articulated a vision of making Yunnan’s coffee aroma a global phenomenon, stating, “Hong Kong serves as a gateway to the world.” The classic Yunnan Arabica, recognized for its heritage as the “Hometown of Chinese Coffee,” was showcased as a means to engage guests with Yunnan’s vibrant coffee culture and tourism potential.
In addition to beverages, visitors were captivated by Yunnan’s wild mushroom biscuits and sauces, which represented the province’s biodiversity and culinary creativity. The Yunnan booth, themed “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life,” provided tourism brochures that offered deeper insights into the region’s rich cultural and natural appeal.
Cultural Performances Highlight Yunnan’s Heritage
Performances were a significant highlight of the conference, with the Yunnan Gengma National Song and Dance Troupe presenting an intangible cultural heritage dance. Their rendition of the Yunnan Water-Splashing Dance, traditionally performed by the Dai people during festivals, left the audience of high-profile delegates in awe. This performance underscored the importance of preserving and showcasing Yunnan’s cultural heritage.
The diverse array of products and performances not only showcased Yunnan’s unique strengths but also illustrated the province’s potential as a bridge for global dialogue. The presentation of Yunnan’s specialties at the Greater Bay Area Conference 2025 highlighted its commitment to industrial upgrading and brand globalization.
As a result, Yunnan is increasingly seen as more than just a geographical location; it has emerged as a promising travel destination that offers enriching experiences for visitors. The phrase “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life” encapsulates the province’s vibrant culture and ecological richness, inspiring both tourists and business opportunities worldwide.
