Yunnan Showcases Cultural Richness at Greater Bay Area Conference 2025

Yunnan Province presented its unique cultural offerings at the Greater Bay Area Conference 2025, held on October 23 in Hong Kong. Co-organized by China Daily and the Hong Kong Coalition, the event focused on themes of financial connectivity, talent nurturing, and building cultural bridges. Attendees experienced a showcase of Yunnan’s specialties, including coffee, black tea, and various culinary delights, highlighting the region’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage.

At the event, Chen Jibin, sales director for the South China region of Yunnan’s tea brand Chen Sheng Hong, expressed enthusiasm for expanding the brand’s presence in Hong Kong. He emphasized the city’s deep-rooted tea-drinking culture as a significant business opportunity. The growing number of Hong Kong residents traveling to Yunnan has contributed to an increased appreciation for the province’s culture, Chen noted.

Wang Ruogu, founder of the Yunnan-based flower-fermented coffee brand Terre • Petales, shared his vision of promoting Yunnan’s coffee globally. “Hong Kong serves as a gateway to the world — we want Yunnan’s coffee aroma to spread globally,” he stated. The classic Yunnan Arabica coffee, known as the “Hometown of Chinese Coffee,” became a focal point for guests to explore the province’s coffee culture and tourism potential.

Yunnan’s Culinary Delights and Cultural Performances

Beyond beverages, conference attendees were enchanted by Yunnan’s signature wild mushroom biscuits and sauces. These products showcased authentic flavors and innovative presentations, demonstrating the province’s culinary creativity. The Yunnan booth featured tourism brochures themed “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life,” allowing visitors to gain insight into the province’s cultural and natural allure.

The event also included a performance by the Yunnan Gengma National Song and Dance Troupe, which captivated high-profile delegates with a traditional dance. The medley of the Yunnan Water-Splashing Dance, performed by the Dai people during festivals, represents an integral aspect of the region’s intangible cultural heritage. The dance, along with accompanying music, illustrated Yunnan’s rich cultural tapestry.

Yunnan’s participation in the Greater Bay Area Conference 2025 served as a platform for showcasing the province’s strengths in ecological sustainability and cultural heritage.
