Clair Ong Uses Bubbles to Foster Inclusive Communities
Clair Ong, a 51-year-old from Singapore, has turned her passion for bubbles into a powerful tool for fostering inclusion. After rediscovering her fascination with bubbles following the birth of her third child, she established Big Bubbles of Joy. The initiative aims to create joyful moments and bring people together, regardless of their abilities.
With a mission to spread happiness, Ong and her team visit schools and charities, engaging with communities through interactive bubble activities. Their presence at events such as The Purple Parade exemplifies their commitment to inclusivity. The parade, held annually in Singapore, invites people from all walks of life to participate, celebrating diversity and community spirit.
Creating Joyful Connections
Ong believes that the act of making bubbles transcends age and ability. “Bubbles are universal; they bring joy and laughter,” she says. The simplicity of bubbles allows for shared experiences, enabling people to connect in meaningful ways. During these events, participants not only enjoy the spectacle of bubbles floating through the air but also engage in conversations and build friendships.
Since its inception, Big Bubbles of Joy has reached numerous individuals. The organization collaborates with schools and local charities to organize workshops and interactive sessions. These gatherings offer a platform for people with different abilities to come together, fostering a sense of belonging.
Expanding Horizons Through Bubbles
The impact of Ong’s initiative is evident in the smiles and laughter of participants. In March 2023, during a community event, children and adults alike reveled in the joy of bursting bubbles, showcasing the potential for simple activities to bridge gaps between individuals.
Ong’s work has also attracted support from various organizations and volunteers, eager to contribute to the cause. Her dedication exemplifies how a small idea can blossom into a movement that positively influences the community.
As the reach of Big Bubbles of Joy continues to grow, Ong remains committed to her vision. She encourages others to embrace the simple joys in life and to consider how they might contribute to their communities. “Everyone has the ability to make a difference, no matter how small,” she states.
Through her innovative approach, Clair Ong is not just creating bubbles; she is cultivating a spirit of inclusivity and connection that resonates with people everywhere.
