StarHub and Mediacorp Join Forces to Enhance Singapore’s Entertainment Landscape
Mediacorp and StarHub have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enriching the entertainment experience for audiences in Singapore. This collaboration, unveiled on October 27, 2023, will enable both companies to combine their resources and innovations to deliver an expanded array of content options.
Beginning next month, viewers will gain access to StarHub TV+ content packages through Mediacorp’s digital streaming platform, mewatch. The offering will feature a diverse selection of programming, including live sports such as the Premier League, FA Cup, and NBA games. Additionally, popular Asian channels like KBS World, TVB, Zee, and Astro will be included in the mix, alongside globally recognized channels like AXN, BBC, and Nickelodeon.
This partnership is designed to provide viewers with flexible micro packages and free subscription options, catering to the varying needs and budgets of households across Singapore. Specific pricing information is expected to be announced closer to the launch date. Current StarHub TV+ subscribers will maintain their existing service and will not be automatically transitioned to mewatch.
Nikhil Eapen, Chief Executive Officer of StarHub, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership brings audiences the widest and most exciting mix of content – from global sporting spectacles to local favourites – in simple and flexible ways.”
Mediacorp’s Chief Executive Officer, Tham Loke Kheng, characterized the venture as “a key milestone for Singapore’s media industry.” She highlighted that the combined strengths of both companies would facilitate a richer entertainment experience for audiences. Additionally, she noted that advertisers would benefit from access to a comprehensive suite of solutions spanning TV, digital, and data-driven platforms, ensuring effective campaign outcomes.
As Singapore continues to embrace the evolving landscape of digital entertainment, this collaboration between Mediacorp and StarHub signifies a significant step towards meeting the diverse preferences of viewers. With the promise of enhanced content and flexible viewing options, audiences in Singapore can look forward to an enriching entertainment experience in the months ahead.
