Discover Bangkok’s Best Menswear: A Guide for Savvy Shoppers

Bangkok has emerged as a premier shopping destination for Singaporeans, attracting fashion enthusiasts with its diverse menswear offerings. Just under three hours by air from Singapore, the city provides an accessible escape for those seeking stylish apparel. Renowned shopping centres like Icon Siam and CentralWorld house a plethora of international and local brands, while vibrant neighbourhoods such as Thonglor and Ekkamai feature unique fashion boutiques catering to discerning shoppers.

Fashion stylist and creative consultant Daryll Alexius Yeo emphasizes the allure of Bangkok’s menswear scene. He notes that the selection is “more diverse and daring compared to what’s available in Singapore.” According to Yeo, the city has become a hub for men who appreciate fashion, offering everything from tailored suits for special occasions to trendy pieces for everyday wear.

Yeo, who undertakes bi-annual visits to Bangkok, highlights two key aspects of the local menswear market. “On one hand, there’s the traditional tailoring scene,” he explains, citing Bangkok’s reputation for affordable and well-crafted custom suiting. “On the other hand, there’s a growing ecosystem of Thai menswear designer labels offering trend-driven pieces.” This blend of traditional and contemporary styles caters to a wide range of preferences and budgets.

Many Singaporeans are drawn to Bangkok for its Asian-friendly sizing. Stylist Donson Chan points out that garments like shorts and pants are designed to fit well without the need for alterations. “Most of the Singaporean men I know like to get their office wear tailored in Bangkok, where options are abundant and prices are significantly lower than in Singapore,” Chan notes.

While the sizes generally align better with Asian body types, Chan advises shoppers to try on items before purchasing, as sizes may run smaller than expected. The similar climate shared by Bangkok and Singapore also means that menswear brands often feature breathable fabrics, ensuring comfort in the heat. Creative director Tok Wei Lun appreciates the lightweight, sharp designs available in Bangkok, making them ideal for humid conditions.

For those seeking unique fashion labels, Yeo encourages exploration beyond the major shopping centres. He identifies Thonglor, Ari, and Ekkamai as vibrant districts where curious shoppers can uncover hidden gems. “You’ll find the best pieces when you wander off the main malls and explore smaller boutiques or pop-ups,” he advises. Tok adds that these smaller shops often stock exclusive and lesser-known brands, enhancing the excitement of the shopping experience.
