Hong Kong Mourns Veteran Actor Benz Hui Following His Death
Veteran Hong Kong actor Benz Hui passed away on the morning of October 28, 2023, due to multiple organ failure caused by cancer. The news of his death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, and fans alike, underscoring his impact on the entertainment industry over a career that spanned more than five decades.
Stars Pay Tribute to Benz Hui
Among those expressing their condolences is actress Elena Kong, who shared memorable moments from her work with Hui in the 2013 drama Bounty Lady. She remarked on social media, “We will forever remember your smile, your kindness and all the goodness you brought! Thank you, Brother Benz!”
Actress Sharon Chan, also a co-star in Bounty Lady, reflected on the unpredictability of life in her heartfelt message. “I never thought that yesterday at the hospital would be the last time I’d see you,” she wrote. Chan added, “In heaven, you’ll no longer have to suffer from illness. Remember, I promised you that we’ll have a big meal together next time.”
Actor Chiu Hoi Yeung shared a similar sentiment, expressing disbelief that his last dinner with Hui occurred two years ago. “Wishing you a peaceful journey. We will always remember the joy you brought to everyone!” he stated.
In a series of emotional posts, actor Jazz Lam described Hui as his “dearest master,” expressing gratitude for the guidance and support Hui offered throughout his career. “I love you and may you have a peaceful journey,” he concluded.
Former Member of Parliament Lee Bee Wah also paid her respects, posting a photograph of herself with Hui and his family. She expressed her sorrow, stating, “It is so sad to lose a great guy.”
A Legacy of Film and Television
Benz Hui was renowned for his extensive body of work, starring in over 150 films and television dramas throughout his illustrious career. His talents were recognized when he won the award for best supporting actor at the TVB Anniversary Awards in 2013 for his role in Bounty Lady.
Hui is survived by his wife, Angeli Lung, and their daughter, Charmaine Hui. Details regarding his funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date, allowing fans and loved ones to pay their final respects to a beloved figure in Hong Kong’s entertainment landscape.
