Alishan Tour Train Tickets Launch for December Maple Viewing

Tickets for the popular maple viewing tours on the Alishan Forest Railway will go on sale on **November 18**. The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office announced that these special tours will take place in **December**, offering passengers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area in Chiayi County.

The themed steam train tours, titled “Dancing Maples,” will navigate through picturesque landscapes, stopping at key stations and exclusive maple-viewing spots. Notably, performances will be held at **Jhushan Station**, the highest train station in Taiwan, and at **Dueigaoyue Station**. Tourists will also have the chance to witness the renowned “sea of clouds” at Erwanping.

Tour Details and Pricing

Five tours are scheduled for **December 2, 9, 16, 23,** and **30**, with a limit of **100 passengers** per tour. Reservations will cost **NT$3,100** (approximately **US$101**), which includes train tickets, a meal, and souvenirs. The tours will utilize **Steam Locomotive No. 31**, a Shay locomotive previously employed in the logging industry, with carriages crafted entirely from Taiwanese cypress.

Renowned ecological photographer **Huang Yuan-ming**, celebrated for his captivating images of the Alishan sea of clouds, will lead the tours. Passengers can look forward to a seasonal lunchbox during the return journey, featuring delicacies from the region, including handmade bread from the **Tsou** indigenous community, locally grown pumpkin, and wild onion leaves.
