Jaipur District Collector Clarifies Voter List Allegations

The district administration in Jaipur has responded to allegations regarding the deletion of names from the voter list following a viral video that circulated on social media. The clip, which featured residents from Jhotwara, claimed that a Booth Level Officer (BLO) did not provide enumeration forms during door-to-door visits and was arbitrarily removing names from the electoral register.

In a statement issued on November 19, District Collector and Magistrate of Jaipur clarified that the process for filling out enumeration forms is ongoing and will continue until December 4, 2025. The Collector noted that some individuals were absent during two scheduled visits by the BLO, and a final visit is still to occur. If these voters are present during the next visit, they will be offered the opportunity to complete the necessary forms.

The Collector emphasized that any names missing from the draft voter list, which is set to be released on December 9, 2025, may only be added or removed after the Electoral Registration Officer issues an official notice. This process will allow affected individuals to present their cases between December 9, 2025, and January 8, 2026.

Concerns were raised in the viral video by a young man who alleged that the BLO had threatened to remove the names of voters who did not bring their forms directly to her. In the video, he can be heard questioning the BLO, asking, “Why did you cut my name? You didn’t even visit our house. We came to you, yet you marked us absent. On whose instructions did you remove our names?”

The Congress Party shared the video on November 18, asserting that there were irregularities in the voter list management. They claimed that the BLO failed to visit homes to provide forms, leading to the wrongful removal of names from the list. The party described these actions as a violation of constitutional rights, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated.

The Collector’s response aimed to clarify the situation and address public concerns regarding the voter registration process. The administration is committed to ensuring that all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process, while also maintaining the integrity of the voter list. The option to complete and submit enumeration forms online remains available to all voters, further facilitating participation in the upcoming elections.
