President Murmu Celebrates Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Centenary in Andhra
President Droupadi Murmu attended the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of the revered spiritual leader, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, on November 22, 2023. This significant event marks a milestone in the legacy of Sai Baba, whose teachings continue to resonate with millions worldwide.
Upon her arrival at Sri Sathya Sai Airport around 11:00 hours, President Murmu was warmly welcomed by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with other dignitaries. Following the reception, she participated in a special programme at the Poornachandra Auditorium. This gathering aimed to celebrate Sai Baba’s contributions and the profound influence he has had on spiritual and cultural practices.
The President’s visit was coordinated meticulously by the Chief Minister’s office, which ensured a smooth and dignified reception. Earlier, Murmu had formally accepted an invitation from the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, an organization renowned for its humanitarian initiatives inspired by Sai Baba’s ideals. In her address, she commended the trust’s efforts in providing free education, healthcare, and various social services.
Reflecting on the impact of Sai Baba’s teachings, President Murmu remarked on the universal message of love and service that has permeated communities, including those in her own native state. She highlighted the essential role of the Seva Organisations in embodying these values through selfless service.
The significance of President Murmu’s participation extends beyond the event itself. Her presence at the centenary celebrations underscores the national acknowledgment of Sai Baba’s legacy, which the Andhra Pradesh government has designated as a state event. The celebrations have attracted devotees from across India and internationally, demonstrating the global reach of Sai Baba’s spiritual influence.
In addition to President Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is also expected to attend the celebrations, scheduled for November 22 and 23. The festivities will feature various devotional programs, cultural performances, and community service initiatives, all reflecting Sai Baba’s lifelong commitment to humanity.
As the ceremonies progress, the atmosphere in Puttaparthi remains vibrant, filled with devotion and a shared sense of purpose. The ongoing celebrations highlight the enduring impact of Sai Baba’s teachings and the community’s commitment to his vision of service and love for all.
