President Murmu Celebrates Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 100th Anniversary
On November 22, 2023, President Droupadi Murmu participated in the centenary celebrations of the respected spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. This milestone event attracted numerous devotees and dignitaries, marking a significant occasion in the spiritual community.
President Murmu arrived at Sri Sathya Sai Airport around 11:00 am, where she was welcomed by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with other senior officials. Following her arrival, she took part in a special programme at the Poornachandra Auditorium, which highlighted the cultural and spiritual legacy of Sai Baba.
Celebrating Sai Baba’s Legacy
The centenary event was characterized as a “special session,” reflecting the enduring impact of Sai Baba’s teachings. In her address, President Murmu acknowledged the extensive humanitarian efforts led by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. She praised their initiatives, which include free educational and healthcare services that embody Sai Baba’s principles.
During her remarks, President Murmu emphasized the importance of the trust’s work and recognized the dedication of the Seva Organisations, which strive to serve communities selflessly. She noted how Sai Baba’s message of universal love and the motto “serve all, love all” resonates deeply with individuals across various backgrounds, including her own native state.
The Chief Minister’s office meticulously coordinated the President’s visit, exemplifying the significance of the occasion. Sources indicate that CM Naidu traveled to Puttaparthi early in the day to ensure a warm welcome for the President. After the event, he was scheduled to bid farewell to her at the airport, further underscoring the collaborative spirit of the celebrations.

President Murmu’s participation in the centenary celebrations signifies the national recognition of Sri Sathya Sai Baba‘s legacy. The Andhra Pradesh government has designated the centenary as a state event, attracting devotees not only from India but also from around the globe, highlighting Baba’s international spiritual influence.
In addition to President Murmu, other prominent leaders are expected to attend the celebrations, including C.P. Radhakrishnan, the Vice President of India, who will be present in Puttaparthi on November 22 and 23.
