The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) welcomed a senior delegation from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) from October 21 to 24, 2025, to strengthen government-to-government cooperation in healthcare. Led by Brigadier Dr Naseer Al-Manthery, the Director General of Medical Services for Security Services, the visit aimed to assess Malaysia’s clinical capabilities and patient care coordination systems.

During their four-day familiarisation tour, the ROP delegation visited several prominent Malaysian hospitals and patient facilitation centres. These included KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, Prince Court Medical Centre, PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre Tun Abdul Razak in Melaka, and Sunway Medical Centre. The visits provided ROP officials with direct insights into Malaysia’s healthcare infrastructure and international patient services.

This initiative builds upon discussions that began in January 2025, when MHTC and ROP first explored structured healthcare collaboration to meet the medical needs of Omani security personnel and their families. The recent programme represents a significant advancement in this partnership, allowing ROP leadership to engage directly with hospital management on various collaboration areas, including clinical training and doctor exchange programmes.

Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, expressed enthusiasm about the visit, stating, “Malaysia’s healthcare system delivers clinical excellence with efficient patient facilitation and care coordination. This visit demonstrates our readiness to support Omani patients and strengthens our government-to-government cooperation.”

In response, Brigadier Dr Naseer Al-Manthery highlighted the importance of the visit, noting, “This visit has given us direct insight into Malaysia’s healthcare capabilities and patient coordination systems. The clinical expertise we observed at these hospitals, combined with the structured approach to international patient care, confirms Malaysia’s capacity to support our medical needs.”

The visit concluded with a networking dinner hosted by His Excellency Sheikh Alabbas Bin Ibrahim Alharthi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Malaysia. This event underscored the commitment of both countries to fostering long-term partnerships in healthcare excellence.

Looking ahead, MHTC is set to participate in Malaysia Healthcare Week in Oman from October 29 to November 5, 2025. This event aims to promote Malaysian healthcare services to Omani patients and stakeholders, further solidifying the relationship between the two nations.

MHTC remains dedicated to serving as a comprehensive one-stop centre for international patient referrals, facilitating seamless access to its network of member hospitals and specialized medical services. This commitment aligns with the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026 campaign, which aims to showcase Malaysia’s integrated approach to international patient care while enhancing its position as a premier global healthcare destination.
