Fans of the popular South Korean girl group Twice can expect a vibrant atmosphere in Kaohsiung as the city prepares for their much-anticipated concert on Saturday, March 16, 2024. This performance marks the group’s first appearance in Taiwan since their debut a decade ago. Kaohsiung’s Mayor, Chen Chi-mai, has announced a series of festive initiatives to welcome both the artists and their fans.

To build excitement, the city has introduced themed light shows and special traffic signals throughout the area. The concert is part of Twice’s “This Is For” world tour, and the local government is keen to make the event memorable. The group, comprising five South Koreans, three Japanese members, and Tainan’s own Chou Tzu-yu, the first Taiwanese member of a South Korean girl group, has a significant fanbase in the region.

In preparation for the concert, Kaohsiung has organized a variety of promotional activities. One notable event is a pop-up store at the Eslite Spectrum Fashion Square, which opened on Saturday and will remain open through Sunday. The store offers limited-edition merchandise and exclusive perks for fans, enhancing the overall experience surrounding the concert.

Citywide Celebrations and Promotions

The city is also lighting up in anticipation of the concert with the “Tour Visual Blue” light show, which started on March 11 and will run each evening from 17:30 to 23:00 until the concert date. This visually stunning display will illuminate several key locations, including the Great Harbor Bridge, the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, and the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center. Mayor Chen expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating that the light shows aim to promote the “Twice World Tour” and enhance the festive atmosphere throughout the city.

In a nod to the group’s branding, traffic lights in Kaohsiung will feature messages such as “Look Twice” and “Twice 2025 Kaohsiung.” The city has also incorporated announcements featuring the voices of Twice members, encouraging fans to utilize public transportation during the concert week. These announcements will begin on March 14 and continue through Saturday, contributing to the overall experience for fans arriving in the city.

As part of the promotional efforts, Mayor Chen has even changed his social media profile picture to reflect the group’s colors, similar to his previous gesture when K-pop group Blackpink performed in Kaohsiung last month.

With the concert just days away, the city of Kaohsiung is fully embracing the excitement and energy that comes with hosting such a high-profile event. Local businesses and fans alike are gearing up to celebrate the arrival of Twice and the positive economic impact their concert is expected to bring to the area.
