Jeanette Aw to Close Once Upon A Time Patisserie in December
Jeanette Aw, the Singaporean actress turned baker, has announced the closure of her patisserie, Once Upon A Time, located at Hamilton Road in Jalan Besar. The bakery will cease operations in December 2023, marking the end of a significant chapter in her culinary journey. Aw, who is 46 years old and a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, made the announcement through her YouTube channel, JA Unscripted.
In a heartfelt video titled Goodbye Hamilton!, Aw reflected on her experiences over the past four years. She expressed gratitude for the space where her baking aspirations took form: “Recording A Moment With Me at Once Upon A Time today, I hold a special feeling in my heart,” she shared. Aw emphasized the importance of this location, stating, “I still remember the moments spent here, from the renovation, to the day it opened, and every customer who has walked into Once Upon A Time in the past five years. I received so much love.”
Aw opened Once Upon A Time in May 2021, offering a unique selection of intricately crafted cakes and pastries available exclusively through preorder. The establishment served not only as a pick-up location for customers but also as Aw’s creative workspace.
As she prepares for the closure, Aw maintains a positive outlook on her future endeavors. “Although I’m leaving here, I don’t feel sad. Instead, I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter,” she stated. Before concluding her video, she hinted at potential future plans for Once Upon A Time, encouraging her followers to stay tuned for updates. “Continue to look out for Once Upon A Time, okay?” she said, adding that she would share news “when things slowly take shape.”
The announcement has sparked curiosity among fans and patrons regarding what the future holds for the beloved patisserie. Will it reopen in a new location or perhaps undergo a transformation? As the year draws to a close, the community awaits further news on the next steps for Jeanette Aw and her culinary creations.
