Colleagues Celebrate Jeanette Aw’s 25-Year Milestone with Letters
Jeanette Aw marked her 25th anniversary in the entertainment industry with an emotional tribute from colleagues during a special episode of her YouTube show, JA Unscripted. The actress, who first entered the scene in 1998, received heartfelt letters from 80 fellow artistes, expressing admiration for her professionalism and enduring impact on the industry.
The production team orchestrated this tribute to celebrate Aw’s remarkable journey. Among those who contributed letters were prominent names such as Tay Ping Hui, Christopher Lee, Xiang Yun, and Qi Yuwu. Tay made a personal effort by handwriting his note and including a selfie. He expressed his deep appreciation, stating, “When talent, beauty, and professionalism are combined with a relentless pursuit of perfection… your name comes before all others. You are indeed the one and only. Happy silver jubilee my dear, you deserve every success.”
As Aw read through the 80 messages, she became visibly emotional. “I see many familiar names, I’m very touched. Many shared certain things that they still remember after so many years,” she said, tears streaming down her face. “I didn’t expect so many people to write notes [for me].”
One letter stood out among the rest, written by Molby Low, CEO of local production house Wawa Pictures. Low was instrumental in launching Aw’s career through the talent scouting competition Route To Glamour in 2000. He recalled his initial doubts about her acting abilities, as she had been categorized as an idol-type actress. However, his perception changed dramatically after witnessing her performance in a rough cut of a project.
“She conveyed everything with just a single emotional shift, and I instantly burst into tears. At that moment, I thought: ‘My God, this actress’ explosive power is incredible’,” Low remarked. His genuine praise deeply resonated with Aw. “There are very few people who are so generous in directly praising my acting… Actually, we actors also need this kind of encouragement,” she reflected emotionally.
This special episode highlights not only Aw’s significant contributions to the entertainment industry but also the strong bonds she has forged with her colleagues over the years. The heartfelt letters serve as a testament to her talent and the respect she commands in the local entertainment landscape.
