Paramount Appoints Meta’s Dane Glasgow as Chief Product Officer

Paramount has announced the appointment of Dane Glasgow, a former executive at Meta, as its new chief product officer. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s product strategy and vision across digital platforms, particularly focusing on AI-powered capabilities. Glasgow will report directly to David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Skydance, and will collaborate closely with Cindy Holland, chair of the direct-to-consumer segment.
Glasgow arrives at Paramount after serving as vice president of Product Management at Meta’s Facebook since May 2021. His extensive experience includes previous roles at major tech firms such as Microsoft, eBay, and Google, equipping him with a robust background in product development and management.
Significant Developments Following the Merger
Paramount Skydance was established after a significant merger valued at $8.4 billion between Paramount Global and Skydance Media, which was finalized in August 2023. This merger not only reshaped the leadership of the media company but also opened new avenues for content creation and distribution.
Since the merger’s completion, Paramount Skydance has made notable strides within the industry. The company secured a partnership with Microsoft-owned Activision Blizzard for a film adaptation of the popular video game franchise “Call of Duty.” Additionally, it has entered a three-year agreement for the global distribution of films produced by Legendary Entertainment, with the first project being a movie based on the “Street Fighter” franchise.
Furthermore, Paramount Skydance is set to pay $7.7 billion for exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for a duration of seven years. This substantial investment highlights the company’s commitment to securing high-profile content in an increasingly competitive landscape.
As Glasgow steps into his new role, he is expected to leverage his expertise and vision to drive innovation within Paramount’s product offerings, helping the company navigate the evolving digital media landscape. His appointment signals a continued focus on enhancing audience engagement through advanced technology and strategic partnerships.
