Hong Kong Outdoor and Sport Expo 2025 Kicks Off with Exciting Events
The “Hong Kong Outdoor and Sport Expo 2025 cum Sportival Asia” officially opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running from November 21 to November 23, 2025. This event features over 50 competitions and activities aimed at promoting sports participation and industry growth, building on the excitement generated by the recent 15th National Games.
The Expo showcases the latest trends in outdoor sports, with exhibits featuring a wide array of sports equipment, hiking supplies, and sports therapy products. This comprehensive event is designed for both the public and industry professionals, creating a vibrant atmosphere ahead of the upcoming 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th Special Olympics Games.
The opening ceremony included several notable figures, such as Prof. Herman Hu, a Hong Kong deputy to the National People’s Congress, and Mr. Alvin Chiu, Political Assistant to the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. Other distinguished attendees included representatives from Mastercard, the China Hong Kong Shoot Boxing Association, and various educational institutions.
In a momentous year for sports in Hong Kong, the local team sent its largest-ever delegation of 602 athletes to the National Games, achieving impressive results with 9 golds, 2 silvers, and 8 bronzes. Following this success, the Hong Kong Judo Team is participating in the concurrent Asian Judo Open Hong Kong 2025, which has attracted 161 athletes from 18 teams, including competitors from Australia, Mongolia, and South Korea.
Carl Wong, Chairman of the Exhibition Group, expressed hopes that the Expo would foster a community spirit following the Hong Kong team’s achievements. “We want that spirit to move beyond the podium and truly enter communities, schools, and every household,” he said. He emphasized the Expo’s role in promoting sports and industry development, especially with the rise of the “Silver Economy” and the increased demand for sports among seniors.
The inaugural Sportival Asia aims to create an inclusive environment for sports by integrating local industries with education and mass participation. This year marks its pilot phase, receiving enthusiastic support from over 20 sports organizations. The event features numerous activities, including fencing, cycling, and table tennis, alongside competitions like the Greater Bay Korfball Championship 2025 and the Hong Kong Boxing Championship belt matches.
A highlight of the Expo is the “1st HK Golf Show,” which showcases a variety of golf-related products and services, including a special putting challenge zone for visitors. Additionally, November 21 has been designated “Silver Friday,” featuring competitions tailored for seniors, such as the “Senior Darts Invitational” and “HKCEC Table Tennis Senior Cup.” The new “Active Ageing Zone” offers older attendees the chance to experience VR sports equipment, promoting health and well-being through technology.
To honor the contributions of physical education teachers, the “Hong Kong Physical Education Teacher Awards 2025” will be held during the Expo, recognizing their role in nurturing future sports talent.
In a bid to enhance local consumption, the Exhibition Group has launched the “Point2Purchase Consumption Vouchers,” allowing over 4 million members of The Club to convert points into vouchers redeemable at the Expo. This initiative aims to bolster the local economy while benefiting both consumers and exhibitors.
The “Hong Kong Outdoor and Sport Expo 2025 cum Sportival Asia” serves not only as a showcase for sports but also as a platform for community engagement, health promotion, and economic development, reinforcing Hong Kong’s commitment to sports and recreation for all.
