Shanghai and Agoda Launch Exclusive Hotel Discounts for Travelers
The Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism has announced a new partnership with Agoda, a prominent global digital travel platform, to launch an exclusive hotel booking promotion aimed at travelers from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Known as the “This is Shanghai” offer, the promotion started on November 17, 2025, and allows visitors from countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to receive a discount of 5% off their total hotel booking, with a maximum discount of 50 RMB per reservation.
With over 3,000 hotels participating in the promotion, travelers can choose accommodations located near key commercial districts, including the Bund, Xintiandi, and Lujiazui. Notable attractions such as the Shanghai Disney Resort and Zhujiajiao are also within close proximity. Guests can immerse themselves in the classical beauty of Yuyuan Garden or enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street.
The partnership aims to leverage digital platforms to enhance the travel experience for international visitors from emerging markets. According to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, this initiative is designed to stimulate inbound tourism spending while highlighting Shanghai’s unique urban appeal.
Agoda’s Head of Greater China emphasized that the platform will facilitate seamless booking services, featuring multilingual interfaces and localized payment options for travelers from the seven targeted countries. This effort reflects a growing trend in the travel industry to cater to diverse customer needs through digital innovation.
The “This is Shanghai” promotion will remain available until January 2026. Travelers interested in exploring the full list of participating hotels can easily access Agoda’s website or application by searching for “Shanghai Promotion.”
This collaboration not only underscores Shanghai’s commitment to enhancing its status as a premier destination for international tourists but also illustrates the increasing importance of digital solutions in the travel sector. As more visitors are drawn to the city’s rich cultural heritage and modern attractions, initiatives like this are expected to play a significant role in revitalizing the tourism landscape.
