YOFC Indonesia Celebrates 10 Years of Digital Transformation
YOFC Indonesia celebrated a significant milestone on November 13, 2025, marking its 10th anniversary since the establishment of its operations in the country. This anniversary underscores a decade of contributions to Indonesia’s digital transformation and growth, positioning YOFC as a vital player in the region’s optical communications sector.
Since its inception in 2015, YOFC Indonesia has transitioned from a nascent project to a modern manufacturing hub for optical fibre and cable. The establishment of the first optical fibre manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia has played a crucial role in the company’s international expansion. Initially launched in Jakarta, the operations expanded with the opening of PT Yangtze Optics Indonesia in Karawang in 2017, thereby completing a full-value-chain production system in Indonesia.
The facility began producing cables in 2018 and underwent a significant capacity expansion in 2022. Currently, it boasts fully automated production lines and employs over 500 skilled local professionals, solidifying its status as a center of excellence in optical communications manufacturing within the region.
As part of its commitment to narrowing Indonesia’s digital divide, YOFC Indonesia has been instrumental in enhancing the country’s information and communications infrastructure. To date, the company has deployed over 28,000 kilometers of optical cable across more than 80 cities, providing high-speed fibre broadband access to nearly two million households. This effort not only advances regional connectivity but also fosters economic growth and community development.
The past decade has also been marked by substantial economic and social impacts. YOFC Indonesia has created over 1,000 direct jobs and has partnered with over 400 local suppliers to generate an additional 4,000 indirect employment opportunities. The company has established structured vocational training programs aimed at equipping employees with specialized skills in optical communications, reflecting its dedication to talent localization.
Zhuang Dan, Executive Director and President of YOFC, emphasized the significance of this anniversary, stating, “The 10th anniversary of YOFC Indonesia represents not only a corporate milestone but also our long-term commitment to Indonesia’s progress.” He highlighted the company’s collaborative efforts with local communities to enhance digital access, drive technological innovation, and promote shared prosperity.
Aligned with its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments and as a member of the United Nations Global Compact, YOFC Indonesia has integrated sustainability principles throughout its operations. The company actively supports national broadband initiatives and expands skills training programs, contributing to Indonesia’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Looking to the future, YOFC Indonesia aims to build on its localized production capabilities and technological leadership. The organization plans to deepen its footprint across Southeast Asia while collaborating with global partners to deliver reliable, next-generation fibre connectivity.
As it embarks on its second decade, YOFC Indonesia remains committed to empowering the digital economy of Indonesia, bridging regional development gaps, and creating lasting value for local communities, customers, and partners. For more information, please visit https://en.yofc.com/.
