Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunite for ‘Haiwaan’ After 17 Years

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have reunited for the film Haiwaan, marking their first collaboration in 17 years. The film officially began production on August 23, 2023, in Mumbai, much to the delight of fans who grew up watching the duo in the 90s. This reunion follows their previous project, Tashan, which was released in 2008 and did not perform well at the box office.
Akshay Kumar shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, showcasing a casual conversation between himself, Saif, and director Priyadarshan. In his post, he humorously stated, “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan… Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan.” He expressed excitement about working with Saif again and praised Priyadarshan as “the absolute favourite captain of the ship.”
Saif Ali Khan’s Recent Challenges
Saif Ali Khan’s return to the film industry comes after a traumatic incident earlier this year. In January, he sustained serious injuries during an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence. The actor was stabbed multiple times while trying to defend his house help. Fortunately, he has recovered and is now ready to resume filming.
The attack occurred around 02:15 hours when a burglar invaded Khan’s home. Saif intervened as the intruder was arguing with the household staff, resulting in him sustaining six stab wounds, two of which were particularly close to his spine. This incident has drawn significant media attention and public concern for the actor’s safety.
Upcoming Projects and Collaborations
In addition to Haiwaan, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are also collaborating on another project titled Bhoot Bangla. This horror drama is anticipated to be released towards the end of 2025. Their partnership has previously resulted in several successful films, making them one of the most commercially successful actor-director duos in Hindi cinema.
The return of Akshay and Saif to the screen is being closely watched by fans and industry insiders alike. Their on-screen chemistry and shared history promise to bring a nostalgic yet fresh experience to audiences when Haiwaan is eventually released.
