Yutong C12PRO Achieves 12% Fuel Efficiency Gain in Philippine Test

Yutong Bus, a leading global commercial vehicle manufacturer, recently showcased the fuel efficiency of its new C12PRO model during the Fuel Saving Challenge held on July 15, 2025. The event took place on a challenging 524-kilometer round-trip route from Manila to Baguio City, a vital corridor for passenger transport and tourism in the Philippines.
The challenge aimed to demonstrate the C12PRO’s fuel performance under real-world conditions, including high fuel prices, extreme heat of up to 35 degrees Celsius, and a variety of complex road conditions. The route comprised 100 kilometers of mountainous roads, 360 kilometers of highways, and 64 kilometers of urban streets, providing a comprehensive test of the vehicle’s capabilities.
Performance Metrics Under Real Conditions
During the test, the C12PRO carried 22 passengers along with a 600-kilogram counterweight. The vehicle used a total of 143.55 liters of fuel, achieving an impressive overall fuel efficiency of 3.65 km/liter. This performance marks a 12% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation model. The C12PRO averaged 4.39 km/liter on highways, 3.60 km/liter in urban settings, and 2.97 km/liter on mountainous terrains.
This advanced coach is equipped with innovative technologies designed to enhance fuel efficiency and performance. One notable feature is its intelligent computing platform, which factors in actual road conditions and utilizes a road map database covering over 100 countries. This platform enables rapid adjustments to the vehicle’s power configuration, resulting in approximately 2% savings in fuel consumption.
Technological Innovations Driving Efficiency
The C12PRO also boasts an intelligent temperature control system that optimizes engine cooling based on ambient temperature and load data. It incorporates waste heat recovery and smart fan control to improve combustion efficiency, contributing an additional 2% reduction in fuel use.
Powering the C12PRO is a next-generation diesel engine, engineered for efficiency with a B10 life of 1.8 million kilometers and a torque of 1900 Nm. This high-efficiency, low-speed engine delivers robust low-speed power, achieving a reduction in fuel consumption by more than 3% in real-world scenarios.
Looking ahead, Yutong plans to extend the testing of the C12PRO series to regions including the Americas and Africa. The goal is to continuously optimize product efficiency and support global customers in reducing operational costs while enhancing overall performance.
