Beijing International Audiovisual Conference Showcases AI Innovation
The 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference took place from November 27 to 28, attracting guest representatives from over twenty countries and regions. Organized by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau and the Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the event focused on high-quality industry development and international cooperation, under the theme “GATHER MOMENTUM FOR SYMBIOSIS, PIONEER THE FUTURE OF VISION.”
The conference featured a variety of activities, including an opening ceremony, a main forum, and ten thematic forums. The opening ceremony was marked by significant announcements, including the unveiling of the Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of the “AI + Audiovisual” Industry in Beijing (2025–2029). This plan aims to enhance the adoption of artificial intelligence in the audiovisual sector through strengthened technology research and development, scenario-based applications, and ecosystem development.
In a notable showcase of support for the industry, the 2025 Funding Projects of the Beijing Radio and Television Online Audiovisual Development Fund were announced, featuring a total of 161 outstanding projects across seven categories, including TV dramas, documentaries, and animated works. This funding initiative reflects Beijing’s commitment to fostering innovation within the audiovisual landscape.
The conference also spotlighted the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, which presented its initiative to establish a new hub for innovation and growth in the high-tech audiovisual industry. This initiative highlights the area’s achievements in creating a comprehensive industry-chain ecosystem. In alignment with this effort, the Bank of Beijing introduced its “Financial Service Plan for New Quality Audiovisual Productivity,” designed to provide full-cycle financial support for industry development.
A significant highlight was the launch of the Beijing Big Audiovisual “Jing Langya” Master Studio, which aims to cultivate a multi-tier talent matrix within the audiovisual field. This initiative underscores Beijing’s role as a leader in nurturing creative talent to drive industry advancements.
During the guest speech segment, various industry experts shared insights relevant to the evolving audiovisual landscape. Xiong Chengyu discussed production and dissemination techniques for online audiovisual products in the AI era. Luc Bénaz explored potential collaboration between the audiovisual sectors of China and Africa. Fang Han highlighted the transformative impact of AI technologies on the content ecosystem, while Li Jiang outlined trends toward premiumization and global expansion in the micro-drama market. Finally, Yilikhamjiang Ibragimov presented results from China-Kazakhstan dubbing and co-production projects, including the film “Waiting for You in Ili.”
In addition to the main forums, the conference featured a series of supporting events. These included “AI Animation Creators: How Universities Are Shaping the Future of Chinese Animation,” “Hearing the Future: Ultra-HD Podcast Theme Day Activity,” “AI Audiovisual Creation Carnival,” and “‘Audiovisual +’ Immersive Experience Day.”
The 2025 Beijing International Audiovisual Conference not only highlighted advancements in technology and collaboration but also set the stage for future initiatives aimed at enhancing the global audiovisual ecosystem.
