ASIAN GAMES/Taiwan wins two more bronze medals in badminton at Asian Para Games

Taipei, Oct. 26 (CNA) Taiwan's Fang Jen-yu (方振宇) won bronze medals after defeat in the semifinals of both the men's singles and doubles SU5 events at the Asian Paralympic Games in Hangzhou, China Thursday.

Fang lost to Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Cheah Liek Hou (謝儮好) of Malaysia in the men singles event 21-7, 21-9.

Later Fang and Pu Gui-yu (蒲貴煜) faced Indian duo Chirag Baretha and Raj Kumar in the men's doubles event, where a hard fought match went to a deciding third game but were unable to raise their level, losing 21-15, 16-21, 21-9.

"We did well in the second game but then we didn't have a smooth start in the third and our opponents were able to get ahead and stay there," Fang told reporters.

Both Fang and Pu usually focus on singles but teamed up for the doubles event at the Asian Paralympic Games, and were happy to come away with bronze medals.

As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Taiwan ranked 14th on the medals table, having won 14 medals, including three golds, one silver, and 10 bronzes.
