Newcastle United’s manager, Eddie Howe, acknowledged that the team is still grappling with the absence of striker Alexander Isak, who transferred to Liverpool. Following a goalless draw against Bournemouth on March 15, 2024, Howe emphasized the need for patience as the club’s revamped attack seeks to find its rhythm. This match marked Newcastle’s third consecutive 0-0 draw in the Premier League, further extending their winless streak away from home this season.

Despite securing a third straight clean sheet, Newcastle has struggled offensively, scoring only three goals in five matches. The team currently sits in 13th place in the league standings with just six points. “It’s three 0-0s away from home for us, which is really uncommon with our attacking style,” Howe stated during a press conference. He added, “I think just naturally we’re going to be a different team attacking-wise this year without Alex.”

Howe expressed optimism about the team’s evolution, suggesting that they may become a better unit in time. Newcastle’s strategy now leans on their club-record signing Nick Woltemade, who is expected to lead the attack following Isak’s departure. Howe noted, “I thought Nick played really well today. I thought he was very effective with his footwork and his link play.”

The manager highlighted the importance of familiarizing the squad with Woltemade’s style, stating, “We just need to know and get used to him and his style more and get more runners off him because he’s very good in that respect.”

Looking ahead, Newcastle will host Bradford City in the second round of the League Cup on Wednesday, where they will aim to turn their fortunes around. The upcoming match presents an opportunity for the team to build momentum and improve their offensive performance. As Newcastle navigates these early challenges of the season, supporters will be watching closely to see how the squad adapts to its new dynamics.
