Snoop Dogg has been appointed as the first-ever honorary coach of Team USA ahead of the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina. This announcement, made by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) on December 11, aims to infuse a unique West Coast vibe into the American team. As part of the “Team Behind the Team,” Snoop Dogg will support athletes as they prepare to compete for medals in Italy.

In a statement, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., expressed his enthusiasm for the role. “Team USA athletes are the real stars – I’m just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines,” he said. He emphasized that the team embodies the essence of sportsmanship, highlighting qualities such as talent, heart, and hustle. “If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”

Snoop’s Connection with Team USA

The USOPC’s chief executive, Sarah Hirshland, noted that Snoop Dogg’s initial interaction with the athletes felt more like a natural team fit rather than a corporate partnership. “From the moment Snoop met Team USA athletes, there was an instant connection – mutual respect, genuine curiosity and a lot of laughter,” she explained. Hirshland added that Snoop’s enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement is infectious, making his official welcome as part of the team all the more exciting.

Snoop Dogg’s presence at the Paris Olympics earlier this year showcased his commitment to the Olympic spirit. He served as a hype-man for Team USA and even performed at a beach party in Long Beach during the handover ceremony for the Los Angeles 2028 Games. Reflecting on his experiences, he remarked, “From the moment I rolled into Paris, I was instantly welcomed into the USOPC family. I felt the energy, the pride and the love of sport that makes this team special.”

A Legacy of Supporting Young Athletes

At 54 years old, Snoop Dogg has a noted history in grassroots sports, notably through the Snoop Youth Football League. This initiative has supported over 15,000 young athletes, including those with disabilities, showcasing his dedication to fostering sporting talent at the community level.

This honorary coaching role adds to Snoop’s previously announced involvement with Olympic broadcaster NBCUniversal during the Milano Cortina Games, further solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the Olympic landscape. “This is just the beginning,” Snoop stated confidently. “Let’s fire up Team USA together.”

With this new position, Snoop Dogg aims to inspire and uplift American athletes as they pursue excellence on the world stage, blending his cultural influence with the spirit of competition.
