Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi Balances Football Fame with Family Life

Barcelona’s teenage defender Pau Cubarsi is gaining recognition both on and off the pitch as he embraces a grounded lifestyle amid his rising profile in football. The 18-year-old talent, who has become a pivotal player for both FC Barcelona and the Spain national team, recently shared insights into his modest home life during an interview with the Spanish sports daily AS.
Cubarsi resides in Barcelona with his older sister, Irene Cubarsi, where they actively share household responsibilities. “I’m just a regular guy,” he stated as he prepares with his teammates for an upcoming World Cup qualifier against Georgia on October 14, 2023. He emphasized that his family plays a crucial role in keeping him grounded, particularly his parents and sister.
The young footballer is not only focused on his athletic career but is also pursuing academic goals. Currently enrolled in a Business Administration and Management course, Cubarsi dedicates three afternoons each week to his studies. “Football doesn’t leave much time, but I want to prepare myself. This course is more relaxed than university, which requires more time,” he explained. His commitment to education reflects a desire to be ready for life beyond the football pitch.
Growing up in La Masia, Barcelona’s prestigious football academy, Cubarsi moved in with Irene after making the transition to the first team. Their parents frequently visit from their hometown in Estanyol, Girona, ensuring family ties remain strong. Cubarsi humorously noted, “I’m learning to cook a few things, and if there are any dishes to wash, I wash them.”
As he balances his academic pursuits with football obligations, Cubarsi’s ambitions on the field are equally significant. He is looking forward to potentially making his first World Cup appearance in 2026. “I’m really looking forward to it, and I’m also excited about winning it. A World Cup is spectacular, and just being able to compete would be magnificent,” he said.
Cubarsi’s rise in football comes at a time when FC Barcelona recently celebrated a successful season, clinching both the LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles. His maturity and performance have not gone unnoticed, and he is increasingly seen as a key figure in the club’s future.
With a focus on personal growth and family values, Pau Cubarsi stands as an inspiring example of how young athletes can maintain a balanced lifestyle while pursuing their dreams in professional sports. As he prepares for the challenges ahead, his story resonates with many, reminding us that even in the world of elite athletics, family and education remain essential cornerstones.
