Zakir Hussain Discusses Ancient Healing Practices Through Mantras
In a recent promotional event for the film The Taj Story, actor Zakir Hussain shared insights on ancient Indian healing practices, emphasizing the significance of mantras. Speaking at a luxury hotel in Mumbai on November 2, 2023, Hussain highlighted the historical reliance on spiritual knowledge for health and well-being.
During the interview, Hussain remarked on the spiritual understanding of people in ancient times, stating, “I was reading a research, it said that people earlier were also spiritual. Back then, medicines were less, but there was a lot of spiritual knowledge.” He believes that spirituality played a crucial role in healing, arguing that today’s society underestimates this connection. “Today, spiritual knowledge is finished. Today, people think that reading mantras does not cure. It does. I can prove that to you,” he asserted.
Exploring the Narrative of The Taj Story
The Taj Story, which features Paresh Rawal in a prominent role, presents an alternative historical perspective about the Taj Mahal. The film challenges the conventional view of the monument as solely a symbol of love, proposing instead that it embodies Hindu architectural principles. Rawal portrays Vishnu Das, a tour guide at the Taj Mahal who becomes fixated on uncovering what he believes to be the true story behind the iconic structure.
The film employs a courtroom drama format, as Vishnu Das files a lawsuit to contest the established narratives regarding the Taj Mahal’s origins. Hussain plays the role of a lawyer representing the committee responsible for the monument’s maintenance, tasked with countering Vishnu Das’s claims in court. This dynamic adds tension and intrigue to the film, which is currently screening in cinemas across the country.
The juxtaposition of ancient healing practices and modern historical interpretations underscores a broader dialogue about cultural heritage and spiritual beliefs. Hussain’s comments reflect a nostalgia for a time when spirituality was more integrated into daily life, suggesting that contemporary society may benefit from reconnecting with these ancient practices.
As The Taj Story continues to attract audiences, it raises questions not only about history but also about the enduring power of belief and spirituality in healing and daily living. The film’s unique perspective challenges viewers to reconsider their understanding of one of the world’s most famous landmarks.
