SS Rajamouli Applauds Ashish Chanchlani’s Ambitious New Series
Acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli has expressed admiration for Ashish Chanchlani’s new series, Ekaki, which he describes as “promising.” The series recently premiered, showcasing a unique genre shift from horror to science fiction. Rajamouli, known for his blockbuster films such as Baahubali and RRR, shared his thoughts on social media, highlighting his appreciation for Chanchlani’s creative direction.
In a post reflecting on their encounter at the Varanasi event in Hyderabad, Rajamouli stated, “Met Ashish during the Varanasi event and now I am happy to see him with his own fully written, produced, and self-made series. #Ekaki looks promising… Especially the genre shift from horror to sci-fi. A clever twist. All the best @ashchanchlani!!”
Chanchlani, who has taken on multiple roles as writer, director, producer, and actor for Ekaki, responded to Rajamouli’s praise with gratitude. He noted that hearing such feedback from a renowned filmmaker was a significant milestone in his career. “Rajamouli sir, thank you for your guidance and your kind words. It’s truly a dream come true for someone like me to hear this from you. Your reaction to it was my biggest achievement. Love you, sir,” he commented.
Chanchlani’s Journey in Creating Ekaki
The journey to create Ekaki proved to be both challenging and rewarding for Chanchlani. He described the experience as entirely different from any of his previous projects, revealing that the team faced numerous hurdles along the way. “When we started, we honestly didn’t know a lot of things; I didn’t even realize what I was getting into,” he admitted. The production involved seven months of pre-production work, followed by approximately 80 days of shooting, and another seven months dedicated to post-production.
Despite the demanding timeline, Chanchlani expressed his enjoyment of the process. “I genuinely loved every part of it. I’m not sure if I’d do something like this again, but I definitely feel vindicated after putting in so much effort. I just hope the audience enjoys watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
The plot of Ekaki revolves around a group of friends who embark on a weekend getaway to the mysterious Ekaki Villa. However, what begins as a fun escape soon takes a sinister turn as they encounter strange and haunting occurrences.
As the series gains traction, both Rajamouli’s endorsement and Chanchlani’s creative vision position Ekaki as a notable addition to contemporary Indian web series. Fans eagerly await the audience’s reception and the potential for future projects from Chanchlani, who has demonstrated his versatility and dedication to storytelling.
