Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) announced the launch of approximately 3,300 Build-to-Order (BTO) flats in October, featuring shorter waiting times of less than three years. This initiative aims to cater to the growing demand for affordable housing in the city-state. The upcoming sales exercise will offer a total of 9,100 BTO flats across various projects, including those in Bedok, Sengkang, and Yishun.

Details of the New Developments

Among the highlighted projects are two in Yishun, both boasting an estimated waiting time of two years and seven months. The first, Yishun Glade, will consist of four 15-storey blocks with 569 units that include two-room flexi and four-room flats. Located near Yishun Street 31 and Yishun Ring Road, this development will feature a senior care centre and recreational facilities such as a rooftop garden, fitness stations, and playgrounds. The area is well-connected to amenities like Junction 9, Yishun Mall, and Yishun Public Library.

The second Yishun project, Chencharu Grove, will comprise six blocks offering a total of 826 flats ranging from two-room flexi to five-room units. This development will also feature a preschool, playgrounds, and a communal garden. Residents will benefit from proximity to dining and retail options at Khatib Central and Wisteria Mall, and convenient access to a proposed mixed-use integrated development that will include a hawker centre and bus interchange.

Projects in Sengkang and Bedok

In Sengkang, the Fernvale Plains project is set to offer 830 units of two-room flexi, four-room, and five-room flats, along with 207 community care apartments. This development, which has an estimated wait time of two years and eight months, is located near Fernvale Drive, Fernvale Link, and Fernvale Street. It will provide essential amenities such as a preschool and recreational spaces, including fitness stations and playgrounds. Residents will also enjoy easy access to nearby shopping malls and the Kupang LRT station.

The final project with shorter waiting times is Ping Yi Court, located along Chai Chee Street in Bedok. This development will consist of five 15-storey blocks housing 862 flats that include two-room flexi and 3Gen units, with an estimated wait time of two years and nine months. Ping Yi Court will feature a courtyard design to encourage community interaction, alongside amenities such as a preschool, rooftop garden, and fitness stations. Residents will have convenient access to nearby facilities and public transport links.

Overall, the October BTO exercise will also include projects in other areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Bukit Merah, Jurong East, and Toa Payoh. The introduction of these new flats with shorter waiting times will bring the total number of such units launched in 2025 to 4,690, surpassing HDB’s earlier commitment of 4,500 units.

“Over the next two years, we will launch another 4,000 shorter waiting time flats per year as part of our continued efforts to reduce waiting times and expand housing options for home buyers with more pressing housing needs,” HDB stated.
