Setsu Niseko Crowned Best Ski Hotel in Japan at 2025 Awards
Setsu Niseko has been awarded the title of Best Ski Hotel in Japan at the 2025 World Ski Awards, as announced on November 10. Located in the heart of Hokkaido’s famed powder-snow region, this luxury hotel is owned by Singaporean property developer SC Global Developments. The recognition highlights Setsu Niseko’s commitment to excellence in ski tourism and hospitality.
The hotel, which opened its doors in 2022, represents SC Global’s inaugural venture into the hotel industry. Founded by Simon Cheong, the company is known for developing several prominent residential properties in Singapore, including Sculptura Ardmore and The Marq on Paterson Hill. The World Ski Awards is a prestigious global initiative that recognizes top ski resorts, hotels, and chalets worldwide. Winners are determined by a combination of industry professionals and ski enthusiasts.
Setsu Niseko was among 18 hotels shortlisted for this prestigious award, selected from a pool of over 400 ski resorts across Japan. In addition to this accolade, the hotel has also earned the One Michelin Key recognition for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025, underscoring its commitment to quality and guest experience.
Luxury Amenities and Design
With a total of 190 suites, Setsu Niseko masterfully combines traditional Japanese design elements with modern luxury. Its proximity to Grand Hirafu Ski Resort makes it a prime destination for ski enthusiasts. The hotel boasts one of Niseko’s largest wellness centres, featuring both indoor and outdoor onsens, a private onsen, sauna, gym, spa, and dedicated yoga and pilates studios.
Guests can also indulge in culinary experiences at five different restaurants, each showcasing the rich flavours of Hokkaido. A standout is Meli Melo – Yuki No Koe, created by Michelin-acclaimed chef Hironori Sato, which has garnered attention for its exquisite menu.
Cheong expressed pride in the hotel’s recognition, stating, “This continued recognition by the World Ski Awards and Michelin Group is a testament to SC Global Developments’ commitment to creating experiences that combine thoughtful design, Japanese craftsmanship, and genuine service.” He added that being acknowledged among the world’s finest ski hotels reflects the dedication of the entire Setsu Niseko team.
The 2025 World Ski Awards serve to not only recognize individual establishments but also to elevate the standard of ski hospitality globally. As the ski tourism industry continues to evolve, awards like this play a crucial role in highlighting the best the sector has to offer, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for travelers seeking adventure in the mountains.
As Setsu Niseko continues to set benchmarks for luxury and service, it remains poised to attract both local and international guests looking for an exceptional ski getaway in one of Japan’s most celebrated regions.
