LG Unveils PuroTec Antimicrobial Solutions at K 2025 in Germany

LG Electronics is making headlines with the launch of its comprehensive lineup of LG PuroTec™ antimicrobial additive solutions at K 2025, one of the premier plastics trade shows globally. Taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 8-15, 2025, this event marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to expand its advanced materials business on an international scale.
The company’s participation in K 2025 follows its involvement in the other two major plastics exhibitions: Chinaplas in China and the National Plastics Exposition in the United States. This coordinated effort underscores LG’s commitment to establishing a robust global presence in the materials sector. The PuroTec solutions are designed for various applications across industries such as home appliances, healthcare, construction, packaging, and automotive.
Innovative Product Lines and Collaborations
At K 2025, LG introduced five core product lines within the PuroTec portfolio. This innovative antimicrobial additive, based on a glass matrix, can be integrated into plastics, coatings, powder coatings, and textiles. It provides both antibacterial and antifungal properties, effectively preventing odors and contamination from microorganisms. This capability enhances product cleanliness and durability, essential in today’s market.
Built on LG’s extensive experience in glass powder research and development, PuroTec has quickly become a key driver of growth in LG’s B2B offerings. The company’s annual sales from this segment have more than doubled year-over-year. To further expand its advanced materials business, LG is exploring new applications for its glass powder innovations. Products such as Marine Glass, aimed at supporting marine ecosystem restoration and carbon reduction, and Mineral Wash, an eco-friendly laundry technology, exemplify this commitment to sustainability.
Strategic Partnerships and Certifications
LG currently holds 420 patents related to glass powder technology and operates a manufacturing facility at LG Smart Park in Changwon, South Korea, with an impressive production capacity of 4,500 tons annually. In a significant move, LG signed a memorandum of understanding with SGS Korea, a recognized global certification organization, in September. This partnership aims to co-develop international antimicrobial certification standards for PuroTec.
Under this agreement, LG will contribute its technical expertise in antimicrobial technologies to the certification design, while SGS Korea will focus on developing certification procedures that align with global standards. Products certified through this partnership will feature the SGS Global Performance Mark, providing transparency and reliability for customers worldwide.
“The LG PuroTec initiative is more than just an additive; it represents a strategic B2B growth engine that delivers substantial value to customers and industries globally,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company. He emphasized that through strengthened collaborations with global partners and adherence to international standards, LG aims to solidify PuroTec as a core pillar of its materials business, driving sustainable growth and enhancing its leadership in the global market.
LG’s commitment to innovation and sustainability continues to position the company at the forefront of the home appliance and materials sectors. For more information on LG and its initiatives, visit [www.LGnewsroom.com](http://www.LGnewsroom.com).
