Sammi Cheng Recovers from Back Injury After Gym Incident
Hong Kong star Sammi Cheng is on the mend after suffering a lower back injury during a gym workout. The 53-year-old singer revealed the details of her ordeal on Instagram, sharing that she strained her back approximately two weeks ago. Unable to consult her regular orthopedic doctor at the time, Cheng sought assistance from a traditional Chinese bone-setting practitioner, but found no relief.
Cheng stated, “The pain persisted. The lower back is too important, so it’s safer to just do an MRI.” Following the MRI, she discovered that she had torn two back muscles. Fortunately, doctors confirmed that her spinal discs remained intact, which Cheng noted could have led to more serious complications.
Despite the discomfort, Cheng managed to walk but was required to use a wheelchair while in the hospital due to the distance to the MRI machine. “I’ve been resting at home for the past ten days, and some of my scheduled activities had to be cancelled,” she explained.
Recovery and Caution
The singer expressed optimism about her recovery, sharing that she has experienced significant improvement in the last few days. “I’m getting a lot better,” she commented, indicating her gradual return to light workouts. Nevertheless, she remains cautious, reminding herself to refrain from overexertion.
Cheng’s experience serves as a reminder about the importance of listening to one’s body during physical activity. As she continues her recovery, fans and followers are hopeful for her swift return to full health.
