The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo, held on September 18, 2025, in Nanning, Guangxi, resulted in the finalization of 155 project agreements. Among these, there are 94 industrial agreements, 44 initiatives focused on artificial intelligence, and 17 international economic and trade deals. This year’s expo highlighted the theme “AI Taking Center Stage, Companies as Key Players,” emphasizing the creation of an international hub for AI cooperation with ASEAN countries.

The agreements signed during the expo underscore a commitment to strengthening cross-regional and cross-border industrial and supply chains. The 44 AI-focused initiatives cover foundational, technological, and application layers of artificial intelligence. They span various sectors, including manufacturing, services, agriculture, and tourism, aiming to enhance cooperation between China and ASEAN countries through AI advancements.

The international economic and trade agreements involve six ASEAN nations: Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Indonesia. A notable project is the China-Laos AI Innovation Cooperation Center, which will encompass both construction and operational aspects. This initiative is designed to foster collaboration in the AI sector, ultimately benefiting the economies involved.

A significant portion of the agreements pertains to foreign investments in projects that include integrated intelligent production in specialty agriculture, biofuels, and paper processing. Of particular note, 45 projects were valued at over 1 billion yuan each, with areas of focus including renewable energy, advanced equipment, metals processing, critical minerals, biomedicine, commercial space, low-altitude aviation, and textiles. Among these, two projects exceeded 10 billion yuan in value, while three others were valued between 5 billion yuan and 10 billion yuan.

The China-ASEAN Expo serves as a crucial platform for promoting economic cooperation and innovation among participating nations. By prioritizing AI and fostering international collaboration, the expo aims to drive growth and development across various sectors, setting the stage for future partnerships and advancements.
