Taufik Batisah and Sheena Akbal Showcase Their Bali-Inspired Home
Taufik Batisah, a celebrated singer from Singapore, and his wife, Sheena Akbal, have unveiled their newly renovated home, drawing inspiration from the serene aesthetics of Bali. Following a year of renovations, the couple shared an engaging virtual tour of their property through a video posted on Facebook, offering viewers a glimpse into their tranquil living space.
The couple’s home features an open-concept layout that integrates the living, dining, and kitchen areas, creating a bright and airy environment reminiscent of a coastal retreat. “We love to go to Bali, and we like the vibe in Bali. A lot of wood, neutral colours, so we wanted to bring it back home,” the 43-year-old singer explained, reflecting on their design choices. While Taufik did not disclose the total renovation costs, he mentioned that the project was managed by Ivory Cove, an interior design firm he co-founded with his brother earlier this year.
Creating a Sanctuary at Home
Taufik emphasized the importance of creating a sanctuary where one can relax and unwind. He stated, “We feel it’s really important when you come back [home], it feels like a sanctuary, and it feels like you can just rest. Just ease into it.”
The couple aimed for simplicity in their decor, wanting to merge indoor and outdoor elements seamlessly. A standout feature is the living area’s TV wall, constructed from actual stone tiles. The space is furnished with a large five-seater curved sofa and a unique stacked wooden log coffee table, both sourced from the furniture company Bless Brothers, which was mentioned in their joint Instagram post.
To accommodate their three cats and visiting family, Taufik and Sheena opted for scratch-resistant and easy-to-clean upholstery for their sofa, dining chairs, and bar stools.
The tour progressed to their kitchen and dining area, which maintains the same Balinese aesthetic. A central kitchen island, paired with matching white cushioned bar stools, serves as a space for both entertaining guests and as Sheena’s workspace. It is also a preferred napping spot for their cats. The adjacent dining area features a long oak wood table with coordinating chairs, reinforcing the home’s cohesive design.
Outdoor Living and Future Plans
On the patio, the couple has a dark wooden outdoor table and a long bench, accompanied by a barbecue grill gifted by friends. Although Taufik admitted the grill has yet to be used, he plans to fire it up soon. A bicycle, belonging to Sheena but frequently used by Taufik, adds a personal touch to the outdoor space.
The home tour concluded with a look at an arched walkway leading to a staircase. Taufik hinted at the possibility of placing a piano in the open area beside the walkway, suggesting a continued connection to his musical passions. He also noted that the upper floors of the house remain a work-in-progress, with plans to reveal their completion in a future video.
Prior to moving into their new home, Taufik lived in an HDB maisonette at 910 Jurong West Street 91. He had purchased that property using his savings, initially living there with his mother before Sheena moved in after their marriage. A quick review of HDB resale values indicates that a maisonette in Taufik’s former block sold for approximately S$620,000.
