Netflix Unveils Competing Nations for ‘Physical: Asia’ Reality Show

Netflix has announced the competing nations for its upcoming reality series, Physical: Asia, set to premiere in October 2023. This new iteration of the popular show, which follows the success of Physical: 100, will feature contestants from multiple countries battling in a series of challenging physical competitions.

The show will expand on the original format, which saw participants from South Korea engage in intense contests until one emerged victorious. Physical: Asia will introduce a national team structure, allowing contestants from various countries to compete together for their nation’s pride. The confirmed countries include Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Mongolia, Japan, Indonesia, and Turkiye.

Adding star power to the competition, former Filipino boxing champion and senator Manny Pacquiao will represent the Philippines. This announcement was made during a press release from Netflix on September 2, 2023.

Yoo Ki-hwan, director of content at Netflix Korea, expressed excitement about the show’s expansion, stating, “This time, we are expanding to an Asian stage with Physical: Asia. The strongest physical competitors from different Asian countries will compete in a national team battle for their country’s pride.” He emphasized the significance of the national team format: “If a country is eliminated, all its competitors are eliminated together.”

As anticipation builds for the series, viewers will be eager to see how these diverse athletes perform in the high-stakes challenges. The competition promises to showcase not only individual strength but also the spirit of teamwork as nations come together to compete on this new platform.
