Chinese actress Zhao Lusi has publicly accused her management agency, Galaxy Cool Entertainment, of financial misconduct, claiming they made an unauthorized withdrawal of 2.05 million yuan (approximately US$284,000) from her studio account. The allegations surfaced on August 2, 2024, when Zhao took to the Chinese social media platform Weibo to express her grievances against the agency.

Zhao, known for her role in “Love Like The Galaxy,” alleged that Galaxy Cool Entertainment had previously agreed to take responsibility for her canceled endorsements while she was undergoing treatment for depression and other health issues. She stated that the agency has since failed to support her, leaving her to manage significant financial burdens alone. In her posts, she also raised concerns about disputes over studio control and the unsuccessful negotiations for her termination from the agency.

In a striking declaration, Zhao stated, “You don’t need to blacklist me. I quit,” revealing that she had been warned against voicing her concerns. The actress, who has been open about her health struggles since 2019, has faced a series of medical challenges, including pneumonia, hearing loss, hives, nausea, and neck pain. Her health decline became particularly evident when she was photographed in a wheelchair at a hospital in December 2024, drawing significant public attention. Videos emerged depicting her struggles with basic activities like walking and eating, further highlighting her battles.

Zhao has previously disclosed that during her recovery, she experienced severe symptoms such as frequent nausea and dizziness, coupled with alarming weight loss, bringing her down to just 36.9 kg. She also claimed that her agency had subjected her to verbal and physical abuse for not securing roles, compounding her distress.

In response to Zhao’s allegations, Galaxy Cool Entertainment issued a statement on Weibo on August 3, expressing their “shock” at her claims. The agency denied any wrongdoing, asserting that their relationship had been built on “years of mutual support and growth.” They emphasized their commitment to prioritizing Zhao’s “wishes and well-being” and urged her to refrain from posting ambiguous content that could lead to public misunderstanding.

Following the agency’s statement, Zhao reposted their remarks and refuted their claims, questioning, “What exactly are you shocked about? Where were you when I was taking medicine and inhaling oxygen more than a week ago?” Her allegations have ignited a wave of support from fans, prompting the emergence of hashtags such as #JusticeForZhaoLusi and #FreedomForRosy on social media.

The ongoing situation has not only raised concerns about Zhao’s well-being but has also sparked broader discussions about the treatment of artists within the entertainment industry. As fans rally behind her, the incident underscores the complexities and challenges faced by public figures in navigating their careers and personal lives amid external pressures.
