Trip.com Unveils Free Layover Tours at Hong Kong Airport

Trip.com has launched a new initiative at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) aimed at enhancing the travel experience for international passengers with long layovers. The “Free Layover Tour Service” was introduced on September 8, 2025, allowing travelers with layovers of seven hours or more to explore the cultural richness of Hong Kong without any cost.

Following the success of similar programs in Shanghai and Beijing, this new service offers six curated half-day itineraries, which include three free options and three premium tours. Each itinerary features guided transport and expert English-speaking guides, ensuring that all international travelers, not just Trip.com customers, can take advantage of this opportunity.

Curated Itineraries for Every Interest

The layover service is designed to maximize transit time while highlighting the unique aspects of Hong Kong. The itineraries have been developed through an analysis of traveler reviews and ratings, ensuring that they resonate with visitors. The three free tours focus on the city’s stunning landscapes, natural beauty, and rich heritage, while the premium tours delve deeper into iconic locations such as Lantau Island, Victoria Peak, and the Tai O fishing village.

Travelers can easily register for these tours through the Trip.com app, official website, or by visiting designated counters at HKIA. Advance booking is required for the premium tours, which must be made by 12:00 noon the day before the scheduled tour.

Seamless Registration and Travel Experience

To facilitate a smooth registration process, travelers can select itineraries based on their arrival times and layover durations. The designated assembly points for the tours are located at HKIA’s transit counters (E134 and E135) and Trip.com Travel Services Counters (A03 & A04) in Arrival Hall A. Upon arrival, participants will receive an exclusive welcome gift pack and can access one-stop services for day tours, transport arrangements, accommodation, attraction tickets, and eSIM cards.

Each tour lasts approximately four hours and accommodates up to 20 guests. It includes airport transfers, allowing participants to enjoy the sights of Hong Kong without the stress of planning. At the end of each tour, travelers receive a fast-track pass to re-enter the restricted area, ensuring a hassle-free transition to their onward flights.
