Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) announced the launch of approximately 3,300 Build-to-Order (BTO) flats for sale in October 2023, featuring wait times of less than three years. This initiative aims to address pressing housing needs, particularly for families and seniors. The BTO exercise will encompass a total of 9,100 flats across various locations, including Bedok, Sengkang, and Yishun.

Details on the New Developments

The flats will be available in a range of sizes, from two-room flexi units to 3Gen flats designed for multi-generational living. The HDB highlighted that the projects are tailored to accommodate diverse community needs, ensuring accessibility and convenience for residents.

In Yishun, two projects will feature shorter waiting times of approximately two years and seven months. The first, Yishun Glade, will consist of four 15-storey blocks with 569 units of two-room and four-room flats. Located near Yishun Street 31 and Yishun Ring Road, this development will also include a senior care centre and recreational amenities such as a rooftop garden and fitness stations. Residents will benefit from nearby facilities like Junction 9 and Yishun Mall.

The second Yishun project, Chencharu Grove, will comprise six residential blocks with a total of 826 flats. This development, situated along Bah Soon Pah Road and Chencharu Link, will offer a mix of two-room flexi to five-room flats. It will also feature a preschool and a communal garden, enhancing the living experience for families. Accessibility is further improved with proximity to Khatib Central and a proposed mixed-use integrated development that will feature additional retail and transport options.

New Housing Options in Sengkang and Bedok

In Sengkang, the Fernvale Plains project is set to launch with an estimated wait time of two years and eight months. This development will consist of five blocks ranging from 23 to 26 storeys, offering 830 units, including community care apartments. HDB indicated that eligible seniors who transition to these apartments may qualify for the enhanced Silver Housing Bonus of up to S$40,000 (US$30,800), effective December 2023.

Additionally, the Fernvale Plains development will include amenities such as a preschool, multiple gardens, and fitness stations. Its strategic location near Seletar Mall and Compass One shopping mall will provide residents with ample retail and dining options.

Finally, the Ping Yi Court project in Bedok features five 15-storey blocks with a total of 862 flats. With an estimated wait time of two years and nine months, this development will emphasize community interaction through its courtyard design. Residents will enjoy amenities such as a rooftop garden, playgrounds, and fitness stations, all while being close to transport links via Bedok and Kembangan MRT stations.

The upcoming BTO exercise will also include projects in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Bukit Merah, Jurong East, and Toa Payoh. The HDB has confirmed that these new flats will bring the total number of shorter waiting time flats launched in 2025 to 4,690, surpassing their initial commitment of 4,500 units.

HDB reiterated its commitment to launching an additional 4,000 shorter waiting time flats annually over the next two years to further reduce waiting times and expand housing options for potential home buyers.
