Manulife and Preface Launch AI Creativity Competition for Students
Manulife Hong Kong and technology education company Preface have announced the launch of the AI Creativity Competition, titled “Prompt Your Future Career,” aimed at empowering students across Hong Kong, Macau, and other cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). This initiative encourages young people to explore future career opportunities through the lens of artificial intelligence (AI), fostering collaboration between students and their families.
The competition, which is open to primary and secondary students aged 6 to 18, follows the successful introduction of the “Future Ready Experience” in September 2025. This earlier initiative included an “AI Open House” and a “Future-Ready Workshop Series,” designed to prepare students for the evolving job market. With research indicating that approximately 65% of today’s primary school students will ultimately work in roles that do not yet exist, the competition aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven future.
Envisioning Future Careers Through AI
The AI Creativity Competition emphasizes creativity and the application of AI technology. Participants are encouraged to think innovatively about career paths, utilizing AI tools to envision new professions or redefine existing roles to meet future societal demands. This initiative aims to inspire students to create their own career blueprints, reflecting the changing landscape of work.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges, including representatives from Manulife, Preface, and other leaders in business and technology education. Judges will assess submissions based on creativity, AI application skills, and presentation abilities. Notably, for the first time, Manulife’s proprietary “AI Judge” will provide AI-generated feedback alongside the panel’s evaluations.
The competition is structured into three age groups, with six finalists from each group contending for three major awards: the “Future Career Visionary Award,” the “AI Creativity Excellence Award,” and the “Community Favourite Award.” The total prize pool exceeds HK$15,000.
Celia Ling, Chief Marketing Officer of Manulife Hong Kong and Macau, stated, “Manulife and Preface share a common vision to empower parents and children to plan for the future through technology and innovation. This competition enables students to explore the latest applications of AI while inspiring them to connect with future opportunities.”
Tommie Lo, Founder and CEO of Preface, added, “We believe that technology should empower young people to imagine the future and drive change. This competition combines AI with career exploration, offering students a hands-on experience of innovation while prompting them to reflect on the skills and creativity demanded by the workplace of the future.”
Workshops to Enhance Creativity and Skills
To further support students’ engagement with AI, the first 100 registrants for the competition will receive complimentary access to exclusive AI training workshops. These sessions will focus on tools for text and image generation, such as ChatGPT and DALL•E, and will include storytelling techniques. Tailored workshops will ensure age-appropriate learning experiences, guided by Manulife’s AI team and experienced instructors from Preface.
The AI Creativity Competition extends beyond a mere contest; it serves as a platform for future-focused learning. Participants will discover the vast potential of AI, uncover their individual capabilities, and cultivate essential skills for navigating future challenges in the workforce.
Details regarding eligibility criteria, submission requirements, and the selection process are outlined on the official competition website. Participants are encouraged to review the Terms & Conditions associated with the competition.
