Fabio Paratici Returns to Tottenham Hotspur as Sporting Director
Fabio Paratici has resumed his role at Tottenham Hotspur as the sporting director, following the completion of a 30-month ban from football. The Premier League club announced his return on Wednesday, marking a significant development for both Paratici and Spurs.
Paratici, who previously served as the managing director of football, stepped down from his position in April 2023 after an appeal against his ban was rejected by Italy’s top sports authority. The ban stemmed from his involvement in transfer dealings and financial matters while at his former club, Juventus. Both Paratici and Juventus have consistently denied any wrongdoing throughout this process.
Despite the ban, Paratici remained connected to Spurs, working as a consultant for several months. His return will see him collaborate closely with Johan Lange, who has been promoted to also take on the role of sporting director. Paratici expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the club in a statement: “I’m delighted to be returning to a club that I love… I now look forward to returning to London and joining the team full-time.”
In addition to Paratici’s reinstatement, Tottenham Hotspur is actively seeking a director of football operations. This new role is intended to provide additional support to both Paratici and Lange as they work together to strengthen the club’s future.
The news of Paratici’s return is expected to generate mixed reactions from fans, given the circumstances surrounding his previous departure. Nevertheless, the club aims to build a promising path forward, fostering a collaborative environment under the leadership of both directors. As Spurs look to enhance their performance in the Premier League, the expertise of both Paratici and Lange will be crucial to the club’s ambitions.
