Remco Evenepoel Joins Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe for 2026 Season

Belgian Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel will transition from Soudal Quick-Step to the Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe cycling team at the end of the 2025 season. This announcement comes from Evenepoel’s current team, which confirmed the news on Tuesday. The 25-year-old athlete is known for his impressive track record, including victories in both the road race and time trial at the 2023 Paris Games.
Evenepoel joined Soudal Quick-Step in 2019 and had a contract that extended through the end of 2026. However, the team stated, “Representatives of Remco informed the team’s management that he did not wish to discuss an extension of his current agreement.” Given this situation, the team management decided it was in the best interest of both parties to allow Evenepoel to move to Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Evenepoel’s Recent Challenges and Achievements
Last December, Evenepoel faced a serious setback when he collided with the open door of a vehicle while training in Belgium. The incident resulted in multiple fractures, a dislocated collarbone, and contusions to both lungs. Following surgery, there were concerns regarding his potential retirement from competitive cycling. Despite these challenges, Evenepoel made a remarkable comeback, returning to competition in April 2024.
This season, he demonstrated his resilience by participating in the Tour de France, where he was positioned third overall before abandoning the race during the 14th stage last month. His determination and skill have made him one of the standout cyclists in the sport today.
Evenepoel’s move to Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe marks a significant shift in his career and reflects the evolving landscape of professional cycling. As he prepares for this new chapter, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how this transition will influence his future performances and the overall dynamics within the team.
