Jason Teh Triumphs at Korea Masters, Securing Second Title
Singapore’s Jason Teh achieved a significant milestone by winning his second major badminton title at the Korea Masters on November 9. Teh dominated the men’s singles final, defeating Japan’s Yudai Okimoto with a score of 21-14, 21-15 in Iksan, South Korea. This victory marks Teh’s second title in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 300 series this year.
Teh, who entered the tournament as the top seed, showcased an impressive performance throughout the competition. He did not drop a single set across five matches, affirming his status as one of the top players in the sport. Earlier this year, he secured his first men’s singles title at the Thailand Masters in February.
In the women’s singles final, Chiu Pin-Chian of Chinese Taipei triumphed over Vietnam’s second seed Nguyen Thuy Linh, winning 21-16, 21-15. This event highlighted the competitive landscape of badminton in the region, with both Teh and Chiu delivering strong performances.
The Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) expressed its congratulations to Teh on social media, praising his “stellar performances and composure on the court.” They emphasized that his achievements reflect “what determination and belief can achieve.”
Following his victory, the 25-year-old Teh will head to Kumamoto to participate in the upcoming Japan Masters. He will join fellow Singaporean athlete and world number 9 Loh Kean Yew in the main draw of the BWF Super 500 tournament, where Thailand’s third-ranked Kunlavut Vitidsarn is set to be the top seed.
Both Teh and Loh have also been selected for Team Singapore to compete in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Their upcoming participation in international competitions highlights Singapore’s growing presence in the badminton world and sets the stage for further achievements in the sport.
