Top seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner marked his 24th birthday with a decisive victory over French qualifier Terence Atmane at the Cincinnati Open. Sinner secured his place in the final with a score of 7-6(4) 6-2 on August 19, 2023, effectively ending Atmane’s impressive run in the tournament.

During the 86-minute match, Sinner showcased his exceptional serving skills, winning an impressive 91 percent of his first-serve points and facing no break points. This marked Sinner’s first encounter with world number 136 Atmane, who had already made headlines by defeating top-10 players Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune to reach his first ATP Masters 1000 semi-final.

After the match, Sinner reflected on the challenge posed by Atmane, stating, “Very, very tough challenge. Every time when you play against someone completely new, it’s very difficult.
