Injured Jarell Quansah Withdraws from England’s World Cup Qualifier
Jarell Quansah will not participate in England’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Latvia due to an injury. The defender has returned to his club, Bayer Leverkusen, as a precautionary measure, according to the national team. Details regarding the specific nature of his injury were not disclosed.
Quansah, 22, has been a key player for Bayer Leverkusen this season, contributing significantly to the team’s defensive lineup. He did not feature in England’s recent 3-0 friendly victory over Wales at Wembley Stadium on March 21, 2024.
England’s World Cup Aspirations
The England national team, managed by Thomas Tuchel, currently leads their World Cup qualifying group with a flawless record, winning all five of their matches thus far. This strong performance positions them favorably as they prepare for the qualifier against Latvia in Riga on March 26, 2024.
The team has confirmed that no additional players will be called up to replace Quansah prior to the match. As Latvia occupies the fourth position in the qualifying group, England will aim to maintain their momentum and secure another victory to solidify their standing in the tournament.
Quansah’s absence is a setback for the squad, but the team remains focused on their goal of qualifying for the World Cup. The coaching staff will look to adjust their strategy accordingly as they approach the important fixture against Latvia.
