Carlos Alcaraz’s run at the Paris Masters ended unexpectedly as he suffered a defeat to Britain’s Cameron Norrie, with a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The world number one, who arrived in Paris following a stellar season that included victories at the U.S. Open, Cincinnati Open, and Japan Open, struggled significantly during this match. Alcaraz, known for his powerful game, recorded an astonishing 54 unforced errors, leading to a visibly frustrated interaction with his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Despite entering the tournament with high hopes and confidence, Alcaraz found himself grappling with his performance. He expressed disappointment in his ability to connect with the ball, stating, “I came here with a lot of energy… thinking that I could have good results.” He further emphasized the contrast with previous years, noting, “This is the best year for me in terms of playing at the end of the year,” suggesting he felt physically prepared after skipping the Shanghai Masters.

As he reflects on his Paris experience, Alcaraz is eager to return home, where he plans to train in hopes of avoiding a similar setback in future competitions. “Of course I’m gonna practice and prepare myself, and I obviously will try not to let this thing happen again,” he concluded.
