Singapore Unveils Largest Dinosaur Showcase with 33 Rare Fossils

Dinosaur enthusiasts in Singapore are in for a treat as the Science Centre Singapore prepares to launch its largest-ever dinosaur showcase, titled Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us, on October 11, 2023. This exhibition will allow visitors to engage with some of the most magnificent dinosaurs that roamed the Earth, featuring an impressive collection of 33 rare fossils and 60 full-scale models spread across 3,000 square metres.

A collaboration between the Science Centre Singapore and the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum of the National University of Singapore, the exhibition is designed to captivate audiences through two major displays and three interactive zones. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the full-scale cast of the enormous Patagotitan mayorum, one of the largest dinosaurs known to science, in the section titled Dinosaurs Of Patagonia.

The second part of the showcase, Six Extinctions, will present over 30 displays that illustrate some of Earth’s most catastrophic extinction events. Among the highlights is Scotty, the largest Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered, which promises to draw significant attention from both children and adults alike.

In addition to showcasing prehistoric giants, the exhibition will also emphasize the impact of extinction on more recent species. The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum will display specimens that highlight local extinctions, including the cream-coloured giant squirrel and the rufous-collared kingfisher, both of which are now extinct in Singapore.

Tickets for Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us will be available for purchase starting September 1, 2023, through the official Science Centre Singapore website. For residents, prices are set at S$25.90 for children and S$29.90 for adults. Standard admission rates for non-residents are slightly higher, with tickets priced at S$35.90 for children and S$39.90 for adults.
