Singapore to Unveil Largest Dinosaur Showcase in October
Dinosaur enthusiasts in Singapore can look forward to an extraordinary experience as the Science Centre Singapore prepares to unveil its largest-ever dinosaur showcase, titled Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us, on October 11, 2023. This exhibition promises visitors an immersive journey through the prehistoric world, featuring 33 rare fossils and 60 full-scale models, spread across an impressive 3,000 square meters.
The showcase is a collaboration between the Science Centre Singapore and the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum of the National University of Singapore. It will consist of two main exhibitions divided into three interactive zones. One of the highlights includes a full-scale cast of the Patagotitan mayorum, one of the largest dinosaurs to have ever roamed the Earth, featured in the Dinosaurs Of Patagonia section.
The second part of the exhibition, titled Six Extinctions, offers a thought-provoking exploration of Earth’s most catastrophic events, showcasing over 30 displays. Among the notable specimens is Scotty, recognized as the largest T-rex ever discovered. Additionally, the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum will display specimens that illustrate local extinction events, including the now-extinct cream-coloured giant squirrel and the rufous-collared kingfisher, both of which were once native to Singapore.
Tickets for Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us will be available for purchase starting September 1, 2023, on the Science Centre Singapore’s official website. Pricing is set at S$25.90 for children and S$29.90 for adults for Singaporeans and permanent residents, while standard admission rates are S$35.90 for children and S$39.90 for adults.
This exhibition not only aims to entertain but also to educate visitors about the significance of extinction and the importance of conservation efforts. With its unique blend of science and history, Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us is poised to be a landmark event for both local and international audiences.
