GSV and DRDO Forge Partnership to Enhance Smart Defence Solutions
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have formalized a partnership aimed at advancing smart technological solutions for national security. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 17, 2025, in New Delhi, marking a significant step towards enhancing India’s defence capabilities.
Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence Research and Development, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. He stated that it is expected to facilitate the development of technological solutions focusing on the deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems. This partnership will address critical areas such as logistics management, operational logistics at various levels, chip design, hardware security, and advanced encryption methods including homomorphic and blockchain technologies.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for joint research and development initiatives. Both GSV and DRDO plan to conduct collaborative studies and host seminars, conferences, and capacity-building workshops. These activities aim to enhance the skill sets of researchers and scientists in the fields of military science and operational logistics.
GSV has a history of collaboration with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, focusing on logistics and supply chain research and education. The new agreement with DRDO is anticipated to further elevate GSV’s research capabilities within the defence sector.
Objectives and Future Plans
The partnership seeks to build strong capacities among its participants, enhancing their ability to tackle challenges in defence technology. By fostering a collaborative environment, GSV and DRDO aim to create innovative solutions that can be employed in national security operations.
In addition to the technical aspects, the MoU highlights the importance of knowledge sharing and skill development. Workshops and roundtables will provide opportunities for academics and defence professionals to exchange ideas and advance their understanding of pressing defence issues.
The collaboration between GSV and DRDO represents a significant investment in India’s technological future and its commitment to strengthening national security. As both organizations work together, their efforts are expected to yield advancements that will be pivotal in addressing emerging challenges in the defence landscape.
This initiative not only underscores the growing synergy between educational institutions and defence organizations but also reflects a broader strategy to harness academic research for practical applications in national security. As the partnership unfolds, the impact on both GSV and DRDO’s capabilities in the defence sector will be closely monitored.
