Singapore Post Celebrates 60 Years with Philately Showcase
Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is hosting a significant event from October 10 to 12, 2025, to commemorate Singapore’s 60th anniversary and World Post Day. The Philately Showcase, titled “60 Years in 60 Stamps,” will take place at the heritage venue of Temasek Shophouse, located at Banyan Cove, 28 Orchard Road. This three-day exhibition aims to celebrate the evolution of Singapore’s postal services and its integral role in the nation’s development.
The showcase invites the public, collectors, and history enthusiasts to explore Singapore’s journey through its iconic stamps and postal artifacts. Among the highlights is the special presentation of the “60 Years in 60 Stamps” collection, which features significant issues such as the stamp commemorating the 1st Anniversary of Independence and The Singapore Story series. These stamps not only represent postal history but also reflect the nation’s identity and collective memory.
SingPost emphasizes that the design of the 1st Anniversary of Independence stamp features individuals of various races united in their quest for a shared identity. The backdrop of industrial and residential blocks symbolizes the focus of Singapore’s pioneer generation on national progress and an inclusive society. The Singapore Story stamp series encapsulates pivotal moments in the country’s history, from achieving self-governance in 1959 to its eventual independence in 1965.
Concurrent SG60 Stamp Exhibition
Running alongside the Philately Showcase at the Visual Arts Centre’s Exhibition Gallery will be a separate SG60 Stamp Exhibition. Organized by the Association of Singapore Philatelists in collaboration with the Singapore Philatelic Society, Singapore Stamp Club, and Zui You Philatelic Society, this exhibition will also take place from October 10 to 12. It aims to provide a captivating display of stamps and postal memorabilia that reflect Singapore’s rich heritage and history.
SingPost encourages all members of the public to participate in this unique celebration of Singapore’s postal history as the nation marks its 60th anniversary. The event will offer visitors the opportunity to engage with the evolution of Singapore’s philatelic culture and to appreciate the stories behind the stamps that have documented the nation’s journey.
In addition to the exhibitions, attendees can look forward to the launch of postal heritage-themed postcards and MyStamps, as well as exclusive event datestamps and cachets. A curated sale of both vintage and contemporary philatelic items will also be available, making it an exciting event for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
