Karnataka Chief Minister Invites Defence Minister to Dussehra Airshow

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for approving an airshow during the upcoming Mysuru Dussehra festivities. In a letter dated August 21, 2023, Siddaramaiah invited Singh to attend the event, highlighting its potential to enhance the grandeur of the historic celebrations and instill pride among the expected thousands of visitors.
The Chief Minister stated, “This gracious gesture will not only bestow grandeur to our historic festivities but also instil a deep sense of pride and patriotism among the lakhs of visitors who gather from across the nation.” He emphasized that Singh’s presence would serve as a significant encouragement to the citizens of Karnataka and reinforce their respect for the armed forces.
Dussehra is scheduled to take place from October 15-24, 2023. In his communication, Siddaramaiah recalled a previous meeting with Singh on August 3 in New Delhi, where he formally requested the airshow. The Chief Minister noted that during a meeting of the high-powered committee for the celebrations, the public expressed a desire for a similar airshow, recalling the successful events held in 2017 and 2019 at the TorchLight Parade Ground in Mysuru.
Siddaramaiah’s memorandum stated, “During the meeting of the high-powered committee for celebrations of Mysuru Dussehra, the desire of the people to have an air show was placed before the committee.” He pointed out that the airshows had captivated thousands of tourists and residents alike, adding excitement to the festivities.
He requested Singh to direct the relevant authorities to plan an airshow akin to those conducted in the past, asserting that such an initiative would add more vibrancy to the ‘Dasara Habba’. The Chief Minister concluded his letter by reiterating his appreciation for Singh’s support and expressing hope for a prompt response.
This year’s Dussehra celebration is expected to attract significant attention, with numerous cultural events planned alongside the airshow, showcasing Karnataka’s rich heritage. As preparations gain momentum, the airshow is anticipated to be a highlight of the festivities, further solidifying the bond between the state and its armed forces.
