Jean Danker and Vanessa Vanderstraaten Surprise Fans in Same Dress
Radio DJ Jean Danker and actress Vanessa Vanderstraaten found themselves in an unexpected fashion moment at the inaugural Mediacorp Screen Awards 2025 on August 29, 2025. Both stars arrived wearing the same striking emerald green tube dress from the fashion label Rentadella, owned by Singaporean artist Ming Bridges.
The event, held at the Pan Pacific Orchard ballroom, featured Danker as one of the hosts alongside colleagues Irene Ang, Suhaimi Yusof, and Vadi Pvss. Prior to the show’s official kickoff, co-host Suhaimi playfully highlighted the outfit clash, prompting laughter rather than embarrassment from both women.
Despite the potential fashion mishap, the two were quick to embrace the situation. They even posed for a video together, showcasing their mutual confidence in the vibrant attire. Vanderstraaten shared her experience of discovering the coincidence, noting that she and Danker realized they had chosen the same dress after a chance encounter outside the restroom earlier that evening.
“We were like ‘Eh!’ and then there was just a lot of screaming,” Vanderstraaten recounted. She expressed admiration for Danker, stating, “I think she looks amazing in this dress.” Vanderstraaten, who indicated that this was her first instance of duplicating an outfit at an event, maintained a lighthearted attitude about the situation. “I thought I was a bit overdressed anyway, then I came here and saw our beautiful host wearing the same dress. So I do think I’m overdressed,” she chuckled.
Danker later confirmed to 8days.sg that she was unaware Suhaimi would address the fashion coincidence on stage. “I had to roll with it and mention it,” she said. She expressed confidence in Vanderstraaten’s reaction, noting, “Vanessa is a good sport, so I knew she’d have a laugh.”
The two women have known each other for years and often cross paths at various events. Reflecting on the moment, Danker stated, “I think we both really rocked [the outfit] to be honest!” This incident not only highlighted their camaraderie but also demonstrated their ability to handle unexpected situations with grace and humor.
As the evening progressed, the fashion faux pas turned into a fun anecdote, capturing the attention of attendees and fans alike. The playful nature of their interaction brought a light-hearted element to the awards show, making it a memorable night for both celebrities and their supporters.
